This project is part of a public-private partnership between Metra and the Union Pacific Railroad to construct a new third main line track. The segments funded under this project are located between mileposts 10.0 and 11.8 in Maywood and Melrose Park and between mileposts 32.1 and 38.4 in West Chicago and Geneva.

Current Activities:Currently construction is in progress on the eastern section. The project is continuing with work on the stations and the installation of the third main along the project and finishing up work along the four separate crossings. Work is mostly completed on the Des Plaines Bridge with the structural steel erected. Melrose Park and Maywood stations will require work related to the third track installation. The construction of the western section is estimated to go out for bid in 2019.
