Funding will provide for the mid-life overhaul of the CTA Nova buses 7900 Series. Buses placed into service between 2014 and 2017 will receive a bus overhaul and will be returned to a state of good repair. This scheduled Mid-Life Bus Overhaul Program will allow for safe, effective operation of the buses throughout their standard estimated life of 15 years.
Major components, which are a part of the overhaul, include items such as engines, transmissions, electronics (including cameras, GPS, destination signs, voice announcements, and passenger counters), HAVC, cooling and suspension systems, doors, wheel chair ramps, driver seats, interior lighting, and other components as needed.
