Description

The scope includes replacement of the current IBS equipment, which includes 725 units of Intelligent Vehicle Logic Units (IVLU), Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), antennas, interface cabling, adapter cables, radio cables, and installation & conversion kits, replacement of 34 access points, and the purchase of two MCC-7100 dispatch radios. This project will be phased in over three years using ICE funding. Pace will award a single contract for the whole scope, but will award funding as it becomes available over the three year period. Funding: 2017 ICE: $1,660,000

Description

This project would support the placement of Automatic External Defibrillators (AEDs) on all cab control coaches and even-numbered highliner cars of the Metra fleet in addition to major work facilities and Metra police vehicles. Funding: 2008 ICE - $536,100 2011 ICE - $103,700

Current Activities

Metra has deployed Automatic External Defibrillators system-wide. Training of Metra staff has occurred.

Description

The Metra real time train tracker will consist of several updates to the current browser and mobile web sites. The updates include the addition of location derived train times displayed to the end users. Funding: 2008 ICE: $64,000

Description

This project will replace Metra's train tracking, passenger information, and passenger counting systems with a new, unified system. The new systems will maintain the necessary current functions of the existing separate systems while potentially adding video surveillance and customer information displays.

Description

Funding for this project includes but is not limited to the implementation, launch and improvement of mobile applications on the Metra system. This project may include the purchase of conductor handheld devices, as well as training. All testing will be included in this project. It will include but not be limited to on-board credit card sales and testing of printers at home, as well as other types of app testing. Description

Funding will allow for more timely information on arriving trains and allow for improvements including digital LCD displays and automated announcements. The displays could show train(s) arriving in the station, estimated time of arrival, stops made by the train, and any service alerts that may influence service. The screens would be connected to a server via a direct network that could push e-alerts, real time tracker information, advertising and other information to the screens to inform Metra customers. Description

The Visual Information System (VIS) is an electronic visual sign system located centrally at the station platform that provides current information about our train service. The VIS system helps Metra stations become more ADA compliant by providing visual information of announcements, train delays, and other information that are helpful to our to our hearing and non-hearing impaired-commuters. Currently, Metra has 80 stations that do not have VIS systems. Funding: 2011 ICE: $691,913

Description

This project will allow Metra to select a fare systems management expert to serve in a program management oversight and systems integrator role. This expert would have a strong background in implementing other transit fare technologies and/or systems at various transit peer agencies, relationships with the banking industry, and expertise in the various technologies that Metra is considering. The first screen was installed at Lake Park/Hyde Park. CTA calls for installing 5-10 screens a week commencing in October 2011.
