Description

The Ride in Kane project coordinates dial-a-ride services in Kane County into a centralized system that optimizes transportation resources for older adults and persons with disabilities.  The sponsors of this project include multiple private non-profit organizations and local units of government.  The award includes funding to support 1.5 positions at the County to lead mobility management efforts for Ride in Kane.

Current Activities

The RTA Board approved funding for this project on August 19, 2021.  This project continues drawing down funds.

Description

This project proposes a planning study to determine if there are efficiencies to be achieved by consolidating or coordinating service delivery and support services associated with the transportation programs of eight human service agencies (Ray Graham, Little City, CTF Illinois, Clearbrook, New Star Services, Park Lawn Services, Sertoma Center and Blue Cap). This is a new project proposal and is directly derived from the HSTP goals.

Description

This project helps to implement the county's coordinated paratransit plan initially funded through the RTA¿s Community Planning program. The program provides transportation and mobility management services for persons with disabilities and older adults residing in eastern Will County townships. Participating townships: Crete Township, Frankfort Township, Monee Township, Peotone Township, Washington Township, and Will Township

Current Activities

Mobility Management funds have been fully expended. This project is complete. The Mobility Manager continues to coordinate services with the six participating townships.

Description

Current Activities

Since the project's inception in September 2009 through June 2014, the project received 498 referrals with 454 participants having completed training.

Description

Guides to rail stations and accessible routes for CTA customers who are blind or have a visual impairment will be produced by this project. The guides to CTA's rail stations will be produced in Braille, plain text, and audio files. The plain text and audio files will be available on CTA's website.

Current Activities

The CTA and the Lighthouse for the Blind have agreed on the common description for the stations. The first stations that are under review are on the Pink and Orange Lines.

Description

This is the first phase of a three-part plan to implement one of three regional call centers. The center will promote, enhance and facilitate access to transportation services, including the integration and coordination of services for individuals with disabilities, older adults and those individuals with low income. Facilitating the coordination of transportation services for work training work shops and work placement agencies are among the functions of the call center.

Current Activities

Funding for call center operations was first initiated with an award from the 2006 program to support the Ride-in-Kane project. Pace call centers continue to provide mobility management services for several demand responsive services and ADA complementary services. Pace is studying the structure and service design of the call centers to explore methods for improving consumer access and attaining greater operational efficiencies. The call center funded by this program now serves projects and ADA complementary services in DuPage, Kane and Will counties.

Description

This service from 9 am to 2 pm weekdays will operate between 16th/Cicero and Cermak/Indiana helping low income individuals obtain improved access to employment opportunities including two hospitals.

Current Activities

Current Activities: CTA implemented the service on September 8, 2009. The service provided 93,977 trips in the month of June 2014. Approximately 31,600 of the trips are estimated to be attributable to the service expansion.
