Description

In May 2022, Lake County combined and expanded the Central and West projects into a countywide service.

Ride Lake County is a borderless countywide paratransit service providing seniors (age 60 and above) and individuals
with disabilities curb-to-curb transportation. The geographic service includes Lake County along with the
entirety of municipalities whose city limits extend beyond the County border into Cook and McHenry County. With no
limitations on the purpose of the trip the service operates Sunday through Saturday from 6:00am to 6:00pm (excluding
specific holidays).

The Ride Lake County operating service provided 3,860 trips in September 2023.

Description

The Sunrise Express is an early morning reverse commute train operating on the Metra UP North Line from Chicago to Waukegan. The service enables reverse commuters to meet 7AM work start times of north suburban employers. Other benefits include a viable suburb-to-suburb option for commuters living north of Chicago and an additional inbound train.

Current Activities

Metra implemented the project April 2, 2007. JARC funding for this project was exhausted in October 2011. In its last year of funding the project averaged 8,121 trips per month.

Metra continues to provide the service with its own funds.

Description

This dial-a-ride service will operate weekdays in Antioch, Avon, Grant, and Lake Villa townships. A portion of the service will be a flexible route connecting three Metra stations on the NCS Line and Milwaukee District - North Line with residential areas to offer greater access to employment opportunities primarily for individuals with limited mobility and other transit dependent populations. The service expanded its boundaries in December 2012 to include Waconda and Fremont Townships. Lake County implemented the service January 11, 2010.

The service provided 881 trips in July 2016. This project is complete.

Description

Will Ride provides transportation and mobility management services for persons with disabilities and older adults residing in eastern Will County townships.  The award includes funding to support the County’s Mobility Manager position.

Current Activities

The RTA Board approved funding for this project on August 19, 2021.  This project has not started.

Seven local governments sponsor the service: City of Naperville, Naperville Township, Lisle Township, Wheatland Township, Village of Glen Ellyn, City of Wheaton, and Milton Township.

Description

The WTW program provides small, short-term, low-interest loans to low-income families for the purpose of purchasing or repairing a car to get to work, childcare, and to pursue educational or job training opportunities. The project funding will be used to support operating costs associated with client screening and case management, and for a small loan guarantee pool. This project will replicate other JARC projects that have been successfully implemented in other parts of the country.

Current Activities

The Salvation Army launched the Ways to Work project on September 26, 2011. Since the program's inception through March 2015, 2,369 individuals have attended personal finance education classes and 506 loans have been approved. This project is complete.

Description

The service provides expanded dial-a-ride transportation in six townships primarily for persons with disabilities and older adults in the western portion of Lake County. The townships, in cooperation with the Lake County Coordinated Transportation Services Committee, and Lake County sponsor the project.

Description

The Ride DuPage to Work is a service of the Ride DuPage system designed to enable persons with disabilities greater opportunities to obtain and maintain employment through more affordable transportation. DuPage Transportation to Work, initially funded with the 2006 program, was implemented March 1, 2008. DuPage County became the grantee for the project in 2010. Prior to that Pace served as the project grantee.

The service provided 2,597 trips in December 2017. This project is complete. Funds have been fully expended.
