Description

This project is a volunteer driver program that supplements the services offered by Hanover Township¿s Dial-A-Bus program. Volunteer drivers utilizing their own vehicles provide door-to-door service for older adults. Local share will be provided with transportation development credits.

Description

This project coordinates paratransit services in Kane County into a centralized system that optimizes transportation resources for older adults and persons with disabilities. The sponsors of this project include multiple private non-profit organizations and local units of government.

Current Activities

The RTA Board approved this project on August 22, 2019.  This project provided approximately 3,814 trips in September 2023.

Description

The WTW program provides small, short-term, low-interest loans to low-income families for the purpose of purchasing or repairing a car to get to work, childcare, and to pursue educational or job training opportunities. The project funding will be used to support operating costs associated with client screening and case management, and for a small loan guarantee pool. This project will replicate other JARC projects that have been successfully implemented in other parts of the country.

Current Activities

The Salvation Army launched the Ways to Work project on September 26, 2011. Since the program's inception through March 2015, 2,369 individuals have attended personal finance education classes and 506 loans have been approved. This project is complete.

Description

In its fifth year of operation, the Ride in Kane project coordinates paratransit services in Kane County into a centralized system that optimizes transportation resources for older adults, persons with disabilities, and low-income individuals. The sponsors of Phases 9 and 10 include 19 private, non-profit organizations and local units of government.

Current Activities

The service provided 557 JARC trips in June 2021.  Ridership is down due to COVID-19.

New Freedom funding has been fully expended for this phase of the project.

Description

Description

This is a demonstration project for the installation of a heated platform technology for snow removal. Metra will identify locations to test the technology with a variety of existing platform materials. In these various tests, Metra will be looking to determine which platform materials best accept heat, evenly distribute the heat across the entire platform, and efficiently use energy to provide the heat. FY 2016 ICE funds will be used for this project element. Funding: 2016 ICE: $742,000

Description

The project will provide funding for implementation systems for automated downloads of camera information at rail terminals, yards and bus garages. Automated downloads will provide better access to camera data without manual downloading (as is currently done) on an as-needed basis. Project costs will provide for hardware, software, site design, implementation and wireless network connections at terminals, yards and garages to facilitate the automated downloads.
