This project will construct pedestrian access improvements for southern access to the Midlothian Metra station. Improvements include installing a high capacity sidewalk along the northwest side of the Rock Island District (RID) right-of-way, between 147th Street and Pulaski Road that will link pedestrians throughout the Village to the existing commuter station. The existing pedestrian bridge over Midlothian Creek will also be made accessible with the construction of an ADA ramp. At Pulaski a new pedestrian crosswalk and pedestrian signals will be installed to link the new sidewalk with residential areas west of Pulaski. Additional supporting items include some striping, lighting and fencing. Current Activities

The RTA awarded the Village of Cary construction funding to develop the Depot Plaza in downtown Cary, as envisioned in the Cary Downtown Strategic Plan. Improvements will include an open-air plaza with artificial turf, shelter for bicyclists and pedestrians waiting for the McRide bus service, ride sharing, taxis, and outbound Metra service, modifications to the sidewalk to increase walkability and improve pedestrian safety, built in planters to add color and character, and new benches. The project initially calls for Shields Township to operate separately while the Fremont and Central Lake partners (Fremont Township, Libertyville Township, Villages of Libertyville and Mundelein) are combined. The service provides expanded dial-a-ride transportation in Lake County to seniors and individuals with disabilities residing in Central Lake County. This project will construct sidewalk infill along Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue in Niles, near the Golf Mill Shopping center, a major transfer center for Pace. Both Golf Road and Milwaukee Avenue are principal arterials currently without complete sidewalks and the new sidewalk will vary in width between 5 and 7 feet. The section of Golf Road will complete sidewalks from Milwaukee Avenue going east and will comprise nearly 4,000 linear feet in new sidewalk. The Milwaukee Avenue sidewalk improvements will be from Golf Road going southwest and will comprise nearly 2,400 feet of sidewalk infill. A new crosswalk with pedestrian signal and push button will be also installed across Milwaukee Avenue at the Golf Mill main entrance. Current Activities

This project will add various pedestrian improvements to the Broadway Avenue corridor, north of the Melrose Park Metra Station, which is served by Pace Route 303. Pace Routes 309 and 313 also intersect the corridor at Lake Street. Improvements that include high-visibility crosswalks and decorative-marked intersections will be installed at three intersections with one of the intersections also receiving curb bump-outs and relocation of a bus stop along with bus shelters at Main and Broadway. The RTA is providing the Village of Plainfield Phase II engineering and construction funds to build a 0.6 mile extension of a 10' wide shared-use path along the south side of 143rd Street from Van Dyke Road to Wallin Drive. Wayfinding signage to the Plainfield Park-n-Ride and downtown Plainfield will be included along the route. These improvements will better connect residents to transit and downtown Plainfield. Guides to rail stations and accessible routes for CTA customers who are blind or have a visual impairment will be produced by this project. The guides to CTA's rail stations will be produced in Braille, plain text, and audio files. The plain text and audio files will be available on CTA's website.
Current Activities
The CTA and the Lighthouse for the Blind have agreed on the common description for the stations. The first stations that are under review are on the Pink and Orange Lines.
