This is the first phase of a three-part plan to implement one of three regional call centers. The center will promote, enhance and facilitate access to transportation services, including the integration and coordination of services for individuals with disabilities, older adults and those individuals with low income. Facilitating the coordination of transportation services for work training work shops and work placement agencies are among the functions of the call center. Funding for call center operations was first initiated with an award from the 2006 program to support the Ride-in-Kane project. Pace call centers continue to provide mobility management services for several demand responsive services and ADA complementary services. Pace is studying the structure and service design of the call centers to explore methods for improving consumer access and attaining greater operational efficiencies. The sponsors of Phases 7 and 8 include 19 private, non-profit organizations and local units of government. Approximately 130,000 trips were provided through this program in 2010. Ridership continues to increase each month with a January 2011 vs. January 2010 increase of 25%. Current Activities

This is a new fixed route service connecting the Chicago Red Line and Logan Square Blue Line stations. There are an estimated 400-600 businesses on the route that represent employment opportunities for low-income workers. A major attraction on this route is the Anixter Center that provides training and employment for persons with severely limited mobility.
Current Activities
CTA does not have sufficient funds to meet federal local matching requirements at this time. The project cannot be implemented until local funds become available.

This project is designed to coordinate paratransit services in Kane County into a more centralized system that would optimize resources for the expansion of service into areas currently not served and provide additional service for underserved areas. The project will increase the mobility of older adults, persons with disabilities, and low income individuals by providing access to needed services and employment. Ride-in-Kane, initially funded with the 2006 program, was implemented February 1, 2008. AID became the grantee for this project in May 2011. Pace previously served as the grantee.

The service provided 11,516 trips in March 2011. This project is complete.
