Description
This study created a transit-oriented development plan for the potential transit station on the proposed Southeast Service Line that would be located within the Village. The plan provides guidance for the location of the station, surrounding land uses, and transportation improvements. The plan also outlines an implementation plan and design guidelines to be used by the Village and potential developers.
Current Activities
The Glenwood Village Board unanimously adopted the Village of Glenwood Station Area Plan in July 2010. The Board, with recommendations from the Plan Commission, preferred the northern station location while leaving the southern station location as an alternative. The plan was a culmination of a yearlong study that involved citizens, business owners, elected official, Village Staff and transit agencies.
Metra completed the Alternatives Analysis for the Southeast Service in 2010 and in 2011 then Governor Quinn signed into law House Bill 1644 which established the Southeast Commuter Rail Transit District which now has authority to acquire rights to use the freight rail line, buy land to build train stations and purchase rail cars. In 2015 Metra suspended further development of the line due to a lack of funding. Funding Amounts by Source

Project DetailsDescription
This is a research and strategic planning project to identify the transit-linked opportunities for community development in the Greater Roseland community of Roseland, Pullman, West Pullman, Riverdale and Morgan Park, focusing on the potential of the proposed CTA Red Line South Extension. The project will assess the impact mass transit can have on housing, the economy and work force development in the Greater Roseland area.
Current Activities
The Final Plan was adopted by the Developing Communities Project Board of Directors in November 2009. The Alternatives Analysis for the CTA Red Line South extension was completed by the CTA in 2009 and the Environmental Impact Statement is set to be published in 2015. Three options are under evaluation for the Locally Preferred Alternative along the Union Pacific Railroad (UPRR) tracks including an option within the existing freight right-of-way (ROW Option), an East Option, and a West Option. The CTA is also evaluating a rail alternative along Halsted Street, a bus rapid transit (BRT) alternative along Michigan Avenue, and the No Build Alternative. Description
This project consisted of a transportation feasibility study to identify potential transit options along County Farm Road, for the ten mile segment between Lake Street on the north and Roosevelt Road / the DuPage County Government Center on the south. The service recommendations addressed access to the Hanover Park Metra Station, the DuPage County Government Center, and multiple businesses and places of employment along the corridor. Project tasks included public involvement, a mobility needs assessment, service recommendations and implementation strategies. The Village of Hanover Park led the study, with the towns of Roselle, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Winfield, and Wheaton serving on the project steering committee.
Current Activities
This project was completed in December 2012. A Transit Improvement Task Force has been formed to implement the recommendations of the study. The task force consists of members from the communities of Hanover Park, Roselle, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Winfield, and Wheaton; as well as representatives from the RTA, DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, and DuPage County. Topics addressed range from having the member communities adopt the plan as part of their comprehensive plans to discussions regarding potential service areas for local transit. The task force continues to monitor potential funding sources.

Project DetailsDescription
The RTA coordinated with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to bring in a panel of development experts to provide guidance and advice on ways the community can attract TOD investment in their Metra station area.
Current Activities
This panel convened in February 2014 and a summary report of the discussion can be found below in the Study Documents. The RTA is monitoring progress and will offer assistance with implementation as needed.

Description
The RTA assisted the Village with updating the zoning code for its Village Center TOD area in an effort to enable the type of development envisioned in its TOD Plan. A new Village Center designation was created with modernized parking requirements, allowable number of dwelling units per acre, allowable land uses, and revisions to the development review process. Project DetailsDescription
This project created a transit-oriented development plan for the Village's Metra station area. The station area was designated in the 2010 Village of Hanover Park Comprehensive Plan as the location of the new Village Center and this plan built upon this vision by planning for increased residential density, mixed use retail, and freestanding retail and office space. The plan is anchored on the Village's existing Metra station and also accounts for anticipated land use changes due to a planned boulevard as an approach to the western terminus of the Elgin-O'Hare Expressway. The Village Board formally adopted the Transit-Oriented Development Plan as an amendment to their comprehensive plan in May 2012.
Current Activities
The Village's TOD plan continues to encourage development adjacent to the Hanover Park Metra station. A 126 unit townhome development was completed in 2014 and is located approximately 1/4 mile north and within convenient walking distances of the Metra station and connecting Pace bus services (route 554).
Through the RTA Community Planning Program, the Village participated in a RTA/ULI Developer Discussion Panel to solicit guidance and advice from the development community on ways to attract investment in the TOD area. The RTA awarded $55,000 to the City of Harvard for Phase I engineering needed for pedestrian access improvements along Illinois Route 173 from Marengo Road to US Route 14, including new sidewalks, ADA crosswalks, and pedestrian access over Mokeler Creek. Currently, there are no sidewalks along Route 173, forcing pedestrians to walk on the shoulder. At the crossing of Mokeler Creek, pedestrians have to walk in the travel lanes of Route 173 to get over the creek. Current Activities

Project DetailsDescription
This project provides a plan for redevelopment of the city's downtown area that includes the Metra Electric District commuter rail station and Pace's Harvey Transportation Center. The plan was completed in November 2005. Current Activities
In 2010, Pace funded a Transit Signal Priority Project for the Harvey Transportation Center. Testing of the full deployment of TSP was completed in August 2010. Twenty signalized intersections along 158th, Sibley Boulevard, Halsted and Park Avenue were deployed in Phase I, and in Phase II 10 signalized intersections were deployed along Halsted Street. This project helped to improve circulation and movement within the downtown area, as recommended in the plan. Funding Amounts by Source
