The project improved bicycle access to the Mount Prospect Metra station and downtown area with the installation of shelters and concrete pads to accommodate 60 new covered bicycle parking spaces. Current Activities
The project was completed in fall of 2017. Improvements are making transit more accessible to cyclists, potentially increasing ridership along the Union Pacific Northwest Line. These improvements have also increased bicycle access to Pace Routes 234 (which has a shelter at Northwest Highway and Emerson) and 694 (stops at Prospect Avenue and Main Street). Description
This project developed specific zoning regulations and guidelines to reflect and implement the previously-adopted Village Town Center Plan. This plan outlines strategies for the Village to attract and encourage TOD investment near the 203rd Street Metra station. Form-based regulations were included in the revised code.
Current Activities
The revised zoning code and associated design guidelines were adopted by the Village Board in September 2018.

Project DetailsDescription
This project assisted DuPage County in developing options to improve transit connections to major employment centers in the County, with a focus on first and last mile transportation gaps with existing transit services. The ultimate goal of the project was to improve commuting options and access to jobs for those commuting to and within the County.
Current Activities
The final report, completed in the summer of 2017, identifies ways to improve transit connectivity and enhance the reach of the transit network in DuPage County. RTA is monitoring future implementation efforts by the County.

Older adults are afforded increased employment opportunities by providing them with transportation to jobs outside of their own town and at times that may extend beyond traditional work hours. Description
Staff from the City of Des Plaines met with development professionals to conduct a discussion panel on their study area. This involved the local planners acquiring advice, guidance, and feedback on the City's plans and goals for future redevelopment opportunities. Current Activities
The developer discussion was held on December 6, 2016. A report summarizing the recommendations made by the panelists is included under Related Reports. As recommended in the report, the City purchased the Des Plaines Theater in 2018 with the intent to renovate and reopen the 95-year old destination. This project included the purchase and installation of a total of 40 bike parking facilities on three new concrete pads around the CTA and Metra Main Street Stations. Current Activities
Construction on the project and installation of the bike racks was completed in fall of 2017. Improvements include increased access to the Metra and CTA Main Street stations, CTA #205 and Northwestern University Intercampus Shuttle bus routes. The bike parking facilities improve access to these transit stations, in addition to business and commercial districts along Chicago Avenue and Main Street. Moreover, this project complements the City of Evanston's other efforts to encourage alternative transportation use. Funding Amounts by Source
