Description

This project consists of a Pantograph inspection system and ultrasonic detection system that will allow for the real-time inspection of cars and locomotives. The existing cameras at Randolph Street Station will be replaced with cameras incorporating XTD (Extreme True Definition Imagery) and structured white LED strobe lights will be added at each camera location to provide illumination. These high speed cameras will be strategically-placed so as not to interrupt operations.

+ Intelligent Bus System (IBS) Equipment Capital Pace Suburban Bus $4,909,177 Completed

Project Details

Description

The scope includes replacement of the current IBS equipment, which includes 725 units of Intelligent Vehicle Logic Units (IVLU), Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), antennas, interface cabling, adapter cables, radio cables, and installation & conversion kits, replacement of 34 access points, and the purchase of two MCC-7100 dispatch radios. This project will be phased in over three years using ICE funding. Pace will award a single contract for the whole scope, but will award funding as it becomes available over the three year period.

+ When You’re Ready, We’re Ready! Campaign Operating Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) $250,000 Completed

Description

To attract new riders and retain current ones, the CTA will remain focused on providing a healthy,clean, and comfortable riding environment, and continue to make investments to modernize the system and improve the overall experience of our customers. (1) Enhanced Cleaning Tools and Measures; to include multiple daily cleanings, targeted deep cleanings of 150 buses and 150 rail cars each night, Mobile Cleaning SWAT teams and efficient Air Circulation. (2) Customer Amenities: Free Masks, Travel Healthy Kits distributes to customers, Ridership Dashboard Information uses technology to help customers plan their trips to avoid heavy ridership periods or overcrowding.

Description

Provides for the installation of LED/LCD signs at various points of contact throughout CTA’s service area in an effort to coordinate information for customers using multiple modes of transportation. The displays will provide real-time bus arrival information or as an outlet to make other related transit announcements. FY 2013 funding will provide for the installation of additional LED/LCD Real Time Bus Arrival Signs in the CTA service area. In addition, funds will provide for maintenance, installation, network costs and an additional back end leased service needed to support the implementation of signs.

Description

The project will provide funding for implementation systems for automated downloads of camera information at rail terminals, yards and bus garages. Automated downloads will provide better access to camera data without manual downloading (as is currently done) on an as-needed basis. Project costs will provide for hardware, software, site design, implementation and wireless network connections at terminals, yards and garages to facilitate the automated downloads.

Description

The MMIS Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) Facilities Project focuses on expanding the existing MMIS to encompass facilities. Facilities management data will seamlessly be integrated with the rolling stock data in CTA's MMIS. This expanded MMIS will support the activities of several CTA Departments. A pilot demonstration will also be included to test the use of a mobile device that will allow work-order information to be updated in the field.

Furnish and install a Network and Telephone Systems Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery system. This project will provide funding to meet control center requirements: a) Deploy Alternate Control Center: The alternate control center should include full functionality similar to the current primary CTA control center. The resources needed to perform the specified functions should be defined, documented, and included in the plan for the alternate control center. b) Information Technology Applications Required for Disaster Recovery: Assess current applications technology stack, address any required upgrades prior to implementing Disaster Recovery solutions, and propose alternative technology solutions for required field technology components (i.e. RF communications infrastructure cannot be duplicated).
