Project DetailsDescription
This is s demonstration project for the installation of a heated platform technology for snow removal. This system would be used at stations with precast or composite platforms. It does lend itself to asphalt platforms. FY 2016 ICE funds will be used for this project element. Current Activities
The platform installation was completed in 2018 at the 123rd Station in Blue Island on the Rock Island District. The heated platform for the Westmont Station on the BNSF line is currently in design.

Project DetailsDescription
This project funds the design and rollout of the next generation of Metra's VIS Signs. TROI-Net Station Displays will be installed at multiple locations at most stations. TROI-Net Station Displays will also provide live train tracking information, customer information messages, and emergency messages for Metra customers.

Project DetailsDescription
This project will develop and use a combination of real-time bus arrival signs, Quick Response (QR) codes and a short (text) messaging service (SMS) to create access to real-time next bus information. The scope includes: purchase and installation of up to five real-time signs at five heavily used locations, up to 900 QR codes will be created, printed, laminated and affixed to information panels inside bus stop shelters, up to 15,000 unique code numbers will be created, printed and affixed to bus stop signs throughout the Pace service area. Pace anticipates using the labor of several interns to accomplish this project. This project will also provide funding for the purchase of supplies such as vinyl decals and lamination material. Project DetailsDescription
The scope of work would include the design, fabrication, installation, and 3 years of warranty and maintenance of thin panel LED, luminous platform signs at up to six Metra stations. Training for Metra staff for the ongoing troubleshooting and operations of the new signs, and training of Metra staff and forces for the potential installation of future phases of luminous signs would also be included. Limited user testing and customer survey evaluations would also be included. Installation of hard-wired electrical power at all locations, and potential electrical upgrades to electrical service and panels would be included as needed. New photosensors and radar systems to trigger the brightening of otherwise dimly-lit signs upon train approach would also be installed as part of the scope of work. Current Activities

Project DetailsDescription
This project will design, purchase, and install new digital train tracking displays and back lit station identification signs. Video boards will display real-time train tracking and service alerts as well as other visual information. At least one sign is planned to be installed at and/or near the primary entrance to Metra's five downtown Chicago terminals. New train tracking displays will improve our communication with the customer and better accommodate ESL and/or non-English speakers and improve ADA compliance. Back lit station identification signs will greet Metra riders as they board and depart the terminal stations. Current Activities

Provide for the update of the Origin-Destination (OD) model working with the Planning and Ridership departments. CTA has been using the OD model for route planning and service allocation since 2008 to minimize crowding on buses and trains.
