This study examined ways to increase usage of the station, increase access to the station by alternative modes of transportation, enhance transfers between modes at the station, and integrate with development plans.
Current Activities
This project was completed in May 2005. In late November 2011, it was announced that the West Cook County Housing Collaborative received a nearly $3 million grant for its transit-oriented development strategy to update comprehensive plans and to create a sustainable transit-oriented development fund for the communities of Bellwood, Berwyn, Forest Park, Maywood and Oak Park. The communities are completed Comprehensive Plans that include recommendations for priority redevelopment parcels in each community's TOD area. Funding Amounts by Source

Description
This project included a transit market and facilities assessment of the I-294 Tri-State corridor from 159th Street Interchange in Markham to the Balmoral Interchange in Rosemont that encompasses a 5-mile radius on either side of the corridor. The assessment identified transit markets along I-294 to inform where future routes and investments in transit infrastructure could be made when the Tri-State is rebuilt, providing incentives for commuters to use public transit. This project included the installation of a five foot wide sidewalk along the south side of US30 / Lincoln Highway in the Village of Park Forest from Orchard Drive east to the Village limits at Rockwell Street, and then south along an undeveloped right-of-way to connect to an existing sidewalk in a residential neighborhood on Farragut Street. This is a segment of 2,425 linear feet and is the final segment of a greater project to build needed sidewalk connections along US30 from the eastern Village limits to the 211th Street Metra station. Description
The RTA partnered with the City of Crystal Lake to create a transit-oriented development plan for the areas surrounding the Crystal Lake and Pingree Road Metra stations. The project created a development strategy for increasing the density in these areas with the goals to strengthen pedestrian walkability and to expand mixed use and transit supportive land uses for increased travel efficiency. The plan was adopted by Crystal Lake City Council on September 7, 2021. The RTA will monitor for implementation activity. In 2022 construction commenced to build a new multi-family development at the southwest corner of E. Crystal Lake Avenue and S. Main Street. The community will include 48 apartments and 51 townhouses just a short walk from the Crystal Lake Metra rail station. Funding Amounts by Source

This project will repair a gap in the sidewalk connectivity along Wolf Road near North Avenue. Repairs will allow pedestrians to directly cross the intersection of Wolf Road and an access driveway to a shopping center. This section of Wolf Road is served by Pace Route 309 and Routes 318 and 320 operate nearby on North Avenue. Two bus shelters will also be constructed at the stops just to the south of this intersection as part of the project. Current Activities

Project DetailsDescription
This City of Chicago-sponsored study encompassed five Metra stations along the Milwaukee District West Line within the City of Chicago (Grand / Cicero, Hanson Park, Galewood, Mars, and Montclare). The study provided recommendations for potential transit-oriented development near each station.
Current Activities
The final report was approved by the City's Plan Commission in December 2012.
The Implementation Task Force is currently focusing on the creation, installation and maintenance of wayfinding signs, a main recommendation of the study.

This dial-a-ride service will operate weekdays in Antioch, Avon, Grant, and Lake Villa townships. A portion of the service will be a flexible route connecting three Metra stations on the NCS Line and Milwaukee District - North Line with residential areas to offer greater access to employment opportunities primarily for individuals with limited mobility and other transit dependent populations. The service expanded its boundaries in December 2012 to include Waconda and Fremont Townships. Lake County implemented the service January 11, 2010. Current Activities
