Description
This project developed a transportation and streetscape plan for the Green Bay Road corridor, which includes the Metra station and a Pace bus route. The plan provides recommendations for a balanced, multi-modal corridor that ensures the safe and efficient movement of vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists, with improved access to both the Metra station and Pace service.
Current Activities
The draft final plan was presented to and accepted by the Village Board on October 21, 2013. The RTA continues to work with the Village on implementation activities. The current focus is on pedestrian access improvements.

Description
The Village was chosen as part of the 2012 RTA Community Planning Program of Projects to update the zoning ordinance in the Village's TOD study area to include transit-supportive regulations. Current Activities
Although the TOD regulations developed during the project have yet to be adopted, the Village Board did adopt a new zoning map on March 15, 2018. The proposed regulations developed during this project continue to be used as guidelines for downtown projects in the Village. Funding Amounts by Source

Description
This project developed specific zoning regulations and guidelines to reflect and implement the previously-adopted Village Town Center Plan. This plan outlines strategies for the Village to attract and encourage TOD investment near the 203rd Street Metra station. Form-based regulations were included in the revised code.
Current Activities
The revised zoning code and associated design guidelines were adopted by the Village Board in September 2018.

The Northwest Corridor, centered on the I-90 Northwest Tollway, includes a substantial share of the region's activity centers and travel destinations, including O'Hare International Airport, the Schaumburg/Woodfield area and the Elk Grove Industrial Park. The Northwest Corridor Transit Feasibility Study identified and compared options for improving mobility, and facilitated a locally-preferred choice for new transit development. Concurrently, the Northwest Municipal Conference-directed RTAP Study developed transit supportive land use policies and identified potential local financing sources. Of the three transit options proposed by CTA, Metra and Pace, local officials representing communities in the Northwest Corridor selected Metra's commuter rail option- the STAR Line.
Current Activities
This project was completed in December 2004. After completing an Alternatives Analysis for the STAR Line in 2012, Metra chose not to continue to pursue the project due to a variety of factors.

Project DetailsDescription
The RTA convened a half-day Developer Discussion Panel in July 2022 to solicit guidance and advice from development experts regarding a collection of Town-owned parcels near the Cicero Metra station on the UP-West line. This panel discussed the development climate and potential strategies to prepare for, and attract development to, these parcels. Current Activities

The Ride in Kane program is in its second year of operation. This program coordinates paratransit services in Kane County into a centralized system that optimizes transportation resources for older adults, persons with disabilities and low-income individuals. Currently there are 18 private, non-profit organizations and local units of government participating in the program. Current Activities

Description
This project was a implementation activity to the Station Area Plan for the downtown area that the City adopted in 2012. This project developed revised zoning to support the recommendations in the Station Area Plan.
Current Activities
In 2020 the City adopted the code revisions that are now integrate the recommended transit-oriented development zoning revisions into their municipal zoning code.

The project funds improvements along St. Charles Road for 1.1 miles, from Mannheim Road to 25th Avenue, which is served by Pace Route 313 and near the Bellwood and Melrose Park Metra stations. Improvements include two bus shelter pads (Pace is providing the shelters), four benches, sidewalk connectors, crosswalks, ADA accessibility improvements, pedestrian lighting, and bicycle racks. Description
Buffalo Grove was chosen as part of the 2011 RTA Community Planning Program of Projects to create zoning guidelines for both the Buffalo Grove and Prairie View station areas to encourage transit-supportive development.
Current Activities
Updated regulations & design guidelines for both station areas were completed in August 2012. The RTA continues to track development progress in both station areas and to offer implementation assistance when appropriate.
