Description
This project consisted of a transportation feasibility study to identify potential transit options along County Farm Road, for the ten mile segment between Lake Street on the north and Roosevelt Road / the DuPage County Government Center on the south. The service recommendations addressed access to the Hanover Park Metra Station, the DuPage County Government Center, and multiple businesses and places of employment along the corridor. Project tasks included public involvement, a mobility needs assessment, service recommendations and implementation strategies. The Village of Hanover Park led the study, with the towns of Roselle, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Winfield, and Wheaton serving on the project steering committee.
Current Activities
This project was completed in December 2012. A Transit Improvement Task Force has been formed to implement the recommendations of the study. The task force consists of members from the communities of Hanover Park, Roselle, Carol Stream, Bloomingdale, Winfield, and Wheaton; as well as representatives from the RTA, DuPage Mayors and Managers Conference, and DuPage County. Topics addressed range from having the member communities adopt the plan as part of their comprehensive plans to discussions regarding potential service areas for local transit. The task force continues to monitor potential funding sources.

Description
This project created zoning revisions to the Bartlett Village Zoning Code intended to implement Bartlett's 2016 Downtown Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Plan. The project developed a new Downtown TOD Overlay chapter to implement Village strategies for a stronger sense of place, to create a more vibrant and walk-able downtown and update development regulations to allow for the type of development the Village envisioned in the TOD Plan.
Current Activities
The Village Board adopted the Downtown TOD Overlay chapter into the Village Zoning Code at their November 19, 2019 meeting.

Description
The RTA coordinated with the Urban Land Institute (ULI) to bring in a panel of development experts to provide guidance and advice on ways the community can attract TOD investment in their Metra station area.
Current Activities
This panel convened in March 2014. A summary of the discussion can be found in the Study Documents section below. The RTA is monitoring progress and will offer assistance with implementation as needed.

Description

The RTA and the Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) partnered together with Elevated Chicago, a collaboration of 17 public, private and nonprofit organizations, to develop two implementation action plans, one in the Washington Park area surrounding the Garfield CTA Green Line station and the other near the Logan Square Blue Line station. The assistance focused on CTA station access, traffic and circulation, community safety, equity, placemaking, economic development and beautification. Public outreach was conducted to generate public interest and engage partners to identify implementable actions.

Current Activities

Work in Washington Park was completed in 2022 and work in Logan Square was completed in 2023. The Economic Development Action Guide (under Related Reports) was developed for the residents of Washington Park to use as a strategy for advancing their goals for future development and redevelopment in the neighborhood. The final report for Logan Square is also found under Related Reports.

Description

Trinity Services provides transportation service to individuals with disabilities in Cook, Grundy, and Will counties. Transportation will be provided for trips to developmental training centers, shopping, doctor's visits, volunteer opportunities and work.

Description

The RTA assisted the Village with updating the zoning code for its Village Center TOD area in an effort to enable the type of development envisioned in its TOD Plan. A new Village Center designation was created with modernized parking requirements, allowable number of dwelling units per acre, allowable land uses, and revisions to the development review process.

Project Details

Description

The RTA provided assistance to the Village in soliciting guidance and advice from development experts through a half-day discussion panel. This panel discussed the development climate and potential strategies to prepare for and attract development to specific parcels near the Cary Metra station. The Final Report is attached.

RTA staff has developed a final report and delivered it to the Village of Cary.  This project is complete.

Description

This project assisted the Village with implementation efforts as recommended in their recently adopted TOD plan that was funded through the Community Planning program. A developer panel was conducted with the goal of assisting the Village with several redevelopment sites identified in the plan. Future redevelopment of these sites will capitalize on the proximity to exiting transit facilities as well as help strengthen the vitality of downtown River Grove.

Current Activities

The discussion panel was held on November 18, 2015. The final summary report is complete and can be found in the Related Studies section.

In 2021, the River Grove Station development was completed and began leasing units. The 40-unit multi-family development is located adjacent to the River Grove Metra station in the area designated as "Site 1" in the River Grove Thatcher Avenue Transit-Oriented Development Plan (2014). This site was the subject of the 2015 Developer Panel.

Description

The RTA assisted the City to update its TOD Plan that was completed in 2005 for areas surrounding the Pace Harvey Transportation Center, including the Metra station, the Pace Transportation Center, the adjacent civic campus and points west to connect to residential areas and the University of Chicago Medicine Ingalls Memorial Hospital. The plan addresses population loss and ways to leverage improvements underway at the Metra station and Transportation Center to rebuild the downtown population through higher-density, transit-supportive, quality infill development.

Current Activities

The Plan was presented in March 2022 to the City Council. The final report and supporting documents can be found under "Related Reports". The City is pursuing funding for various roadwork, public plazas and gathering spaces as identified in the plan and later in 2022 was awarded design engineering funds for the 154th Street Improvement Project. The project will include pedestrian safety and ADA compliant sidewalk improvements by upgrading the pavement, sidewalk, and lighting conditions along 154th Street. The RTA will continue monitoring for plan implementation activities.

Description

This project provides new sidewalks, crosswalks, and pedestrian signal heads along a one-and-a-half mile section of Golf Road, improving access to three Pace fixed routes that operate on the corridor (#209, #606, and #757). Several major employers are located on this corridor and it has also been chosen by Pace as a potential Arterial Rapid Transit (ART) route.
